It was a symphony of sea power, a hallelujah of hail, high winds and freezing rain. Ever hear it?

Wild waves at Washing Machine Arch (our name for this spot that hosts such a dynamic spectacale when conditions are right), at Mendocino Headlands State Park, complete with a fog shrouded view north towards the Point Cabrillo headlands in the distance. This was a thrilling ride as I waited for the perfect combination of waves to all happen a the same time. I was eventually driven off the headlands by the horizontal wind, rain and hail that made me flee to the car at a dead run because of the suddenly unbearable cold and wet conditions on what had only an hour before been a pretty nice afternoon.
